computer - abort shutdown

Aborting Automatic Shutdown
On Public Computers

All catalogs, internet stations, signup queues and print queues, shutdown automatically at the end of the day. The catalogs, internet stations and signup queues shutdown at closing. While the print queues shutdown 10 minutes after closing. Customers are warned, 5 minutes before closing, to save or print their work or risk losing it.

If for some reason a customer can not complete their work before closing, it is possible to abort the automatic shutdown. It is up to branch staff’s discretion to determine which situations warrant aborting shutdown. When aborting shutdown you must take into account the following:

• You can only abort shutdown on one computer at a time.
• You must wait for the 5 minute warning to appear on the customer’s computer before attempting to abort shutdown.
• The abort shutdown command only works on internet stations. It does not work on catalogs, signup queues or print queues.

To abort the automatic shutdown of public internet stations do the following:
1. On the desktop of any Information Desk computer, double click on the Abort Shutdown icon.
