Computer - shortcut for closing current window

If you are viewing a particular screen in Polaris (or any other Windows based program), to close that window completely, use the ALT key and then the F4 key from the top row of Function keys. It's ALT-F4. Your previously used window is still open for use.

Printer putting out garbage

After consulting with the Help Desk, here's a possible fix.  It has two parts:
• While it is printing garbage, turn the printer OFF.
• Unplug it.
• While it is unplugged, turn the printer back ON.
• Wait five minutes.
• Turn the printer OFF.
• Plug it back in.
• Turn the printer back on.

If this does not fix the problem, call the Help Desk during business hours and they will "run a script" between Part 1 and Part 2.  After 5:00 pm, try opening the Print Release software on the primary Info Desk PC and print customers' documents at the Info Desk.  If this will not work, save the customer's documents on a thumb drive from the left-most Info Desk drawer, insert it in the primary Info Desk PC and print it from there.

PUBLIC PC - NO INTERNET ACCESS - QUICK FIX

Customers are experiencing inability to access any website on some PCs. It has to do with a known IPrizm software issue. The fix is to go to the customer's PC, make sure you are out of Internet Explorer and then key Ctrl-Alt + I.  That's the Control and Alternate Key together then the I letter key.

Computer - Wireless Printing

- Customer must have a wireless card
- Vista and Windows 7 operating systems are relatively new and don't
always work right away
- Try downloading twice & if they don't work, save to a flash drive,
then print from info desk
- Foxfire/Mozilla don't work. Just save to flash drive
- XP and Explorer should work, no problem
- MOST IMPORTANT - Customer has to download the program before
they can print. Ask this question immediately
- Printer software times out after 30 minutes. To avoid having
to log again, user should refresh his/her browser every
20 minutes or so.
